State-of-the-Art, High-Speed Network installed at Longview Regional Medical Center
02/15/2011(Longview) - Network Communications, a Longview-based provider of telephone, high-speed Internet and office automation services, has completed the installation of a state-of-the-art, high-speed network for Longview Regional Medical Center that connects four of the hospital’s citywide satellite locations with its main campus.
The new Metro Ethernet network – more than 65 times faster than a standard T-1 network – links Longview Regional Medical Center’s Physicians Surgery Center, Occupational Medicine Clinic, Materials Management Office and Business Office with the main hospital campus, providing ample bandwidth to perform advanced data, voice and video applications.
Keith Jarvis, IT director of Longview Regional Medical Center, said the new network allows the hospital to better serve its patients and physicians. “It provides continuity of care that is seamless to the patients and the physicians,” Mr. Jarvis said. “We’re now able to run advanced applications at each of these remote locations that we were not previously able to because of bandwidth limitations. These locations now have faster access to files, as if they’re part of the main campus.”
“Network Communications exceeded our expectations in every way,” Mr. Jarvis added.
Metro Ethernet solutions enable organizations such as Longview Regional Medical Center to link multiple facilities together with high-speed networks that have speeds previously found only within a single building, according to Tony Cason, Network Communications president.
“Longview Regional Medical Center is clearly committed to delivering excellent health care services to its patients and the community, and we are proud to have worked with such an outstanding organization that is dedicated to quality,” Mr. Cason said.
